In those days there was one 'Guindy Lodge' which was a house belonged to Chinna Venkatathiri a businessman. In and around that house here was a vast area like forest which was very suitable for sports and games. This place was originally purchased from Langhorn, the English Governor. After Langhorn returned to England this house was returned to Goverment. At that time its name was 'Guindy Mote'. The Goverment purchased another Armerian place which was adjoined to this house. All there thing happened during the period me Sir Thomas Mantro. In between 1821 and 1824 all the lands attached to this house was purchased. All these lands and houses were combined together and this campus is now called Raj Bhavan the residence of the Governor me Tamilnadu.
